Many people exert their energies to rally for the legalization of marijuana in western countries, but cannabis isn't the only
plant that can get you high. Those really attracted to the psychologically altering offerings of nature can grow their very own legal gardens of LSA, DMT and mescaline. It's legal to enjoy these plants for their aesthetic qualities, but extracting and consuming their potent high-inducing chemicals will mean breaking the law!

1. Hawaiian Baby Woodrose
A vine originally found in South Asia, but now grown worldwide, Hawaiian Baby Woodrose, otherwise known as Elephant Creeper, has seeds with hallucinogenic properties. The plant, which can climb up to 31 feet, is entirely legal. However, extraction of LSA from the seeds for human ingestion is illegal. LSA, or lysergic acid amide, was a precursor to LSD, having a similar chemical structure, and yielding similar psychedelic effects.

2. Ayahuasca
Ayahuasca, or banisteriopsis caapi, is a South American vine used frequently amongst Amazonian natives. Ayahuasca contains an MAOI, an extremely powerful anti-depressant that can only be prescribed in desperate cases. The plant is commonly brewed and drunk to optimize its psychedelic properties. In Peru, Ayahuasca is used as a religious sacrament. In the United States, the vine is legal, but the brew, or any variation of the extracted DMI compound, is illegal.

3. Peruvian Torch Cactus
The Peruvian Torch Cactus is an Andrean mountain desert plant known for its psychedelic alkaloids. As potent as peyote, this cactus derives its high-inspiring qualities from mescaline. Mescaline is a popular and illegal drug, reported to have been used by such creative figures as Pablo Picasso and Aldous Huxley. Mescaline distorts the user's vision, particularly amplifying intense patterns to produce a kaleidoscope effect.

4. Wormwood
Wormwood is a perennial herb with pale yellow flowers from which absinthe is made. When in full bloom, the flowers can be dried and consumed to be used as a pain reliever. Wormwood oil can be used as a cardiac stimulant. Careful, now, wormwood as a whole is a poisonous plant and should not be consumed in large quantities. Illegally, wormwood is often smoked in tandem with cannabis to exaggerate the effects of the high.

5. Dream Herb
Dream Herb, or Calea Zacatechichi, is a Mexican plant reported to enable the user to more completely recollect dreams, and more frequently have dreams. Dream Herb is a stimulant that increases reaction time. Medicinally, it is fever-reducing. The Chontal people crush the dried leaves and brew them as a tea. The plant is legal to grow and sell. However, some states have banned its consumption.
